ประวัติความเป็นมาอำเภอเขวาสินรินทร์พอสังเขป
อำเภอเขวาสินรินทร์ เดิมอยู่ในเขตการปกครองของอำเภอเมืองสุรินทร์ ต่อมาสภาตำบลเขวาสินรินทร์ ตำบลปราสาททอง สภาตำบลตากูก สภาตำบลบึงและสภาตำบลบ้านแร่ ได้ประชุมและขอแยกการปกครองออกจากอำเภอเมืองสุรินทร์เพื่อจัดตั้งกิ่งอำเภอ และกระทรวงมหาดไทยได้ประกาศจัดตั้งเป็นกิ่งอำเภอเขวาสินรินทร์ เมื่อวันที่ 15 กรกฏาคม 2539 เป็นต้นไป ต่อมาได้เป็นเปลี่ยนเป็นอำเภอ

ท้องที่อำเภอเขวาสินรินทร์เดิมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของอำเภอเมืองสุรินทร์ทางราชการได้แบ่งพื้นที่การปกครองออกมาตั้งเป็น กิ่งอำเภอเขวาสินรินทร์ ตามประกาศกระทรวงมหาดไทยลงวันที่ 26 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2539 โดยมีผลบังคับตั้งแต่วันที่ 15 กรกฎาคม ปีเดียวกัน ต่อมาในวันที่ 24 สิงหาคม 2550ได้มีพระราชกฤษฎีกายกฐานะขึ้นเป็น อำเภอเขวาสินรินทร์ โดยมีผลบังคับตั้งแต่วันที่8 กันยายน ปีเดียวกัน
