งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงของนักร้องเกาหลีตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน รวมถึงเบื้องหลังเส้นทางขั้นตอนสู่การเป็นนักร้องเกาหลี เพื่อให้เห็นภาพการเปลี่ยนแปลงของนักร้องเกาหลีผลการวิจัยพบว่าบริบททางสังคมและโครงสร้างทางเศรษฐกิจในแต่ละช่วงเวลานั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ก่อให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงของนักร้องเกาหลีทั้งสงคราม การถูกครอบงำโดยต่างชาติ หรือนโยบายพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรม ปัจจุบันนักร้องเกาหลีถูกจัดเป็นแหล่งทำรายได้มหาศาลแก่ประเทศเกาหลีและหนทางการเป็นนักร้องเกาหลีไม่ใช่เรื่องที่ง่ายอย่างที่หลายๆคนเข้าใจ แต่จะต้องผ่านขั้นตอนต่างๆมากมายจากการคัดเลือกผู้สมัครจำนวนนับพันคน แสดงความสามารถทั้งร้อง เต้นและการแสดง จนเข้ามาเป็นนักร้องฝึกหัดและฝึกอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลาหลายปีจนกว่าจะพร้อมจึงจะได้เดบิวต์เป็นศิลปิน ที่มีชื่อเสียงและได้รับความนิยมจากกลุ่มแฟนคลับทั่วทั้งเกาหลีและทั่วโลก
