ประวัติการศึกษา :
ด.ช.อภิสิทธิ์ ได้เข้าเรียนระดับอนุบาลที่ โรงเรียนอนุบาลยุคลธรระดับประถมที่ โรงเรียนสาธิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จนจบชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 จากนั้นได้ย้ายกลับประเทศอังกฤษเพื่อเข้าเรียนที่ โรงเรียนสเกทคลิฟ และเรียนต่อที่ โรงเรียนมัธยมอีตัน ซึ่งเป็นโรงเรียนประจำเอกชน ระดับเตรียมอุดมศึกษาที่มีชื่อเสียงแห่งหนึ่งของ กรุงลอนดอน ได้เข้าศึกษาต่อในระดับปริญญาตรีในสาขาวิชา ปรัชญา การเมืองและเศรษฐศาสตร์ (Philosophy, Politics and Economics, P.P.E.) ที่มหาวิทยาลัยออกซ์ฟอร์ด สำเร็จการศึกษาตามหลักสูตร 3 ปี โดยได้รับเกียรตินิยมอันดับหนึ่ง นับเป็นคนไทยคนที่ 2 ที่ได้รับเกียรตินิยมอันดับหนึ่งในสาขาวิชานี้ ต่อจาก พระยาศรีวิศาลวาจา หลังสำเร็จการศึกษาปริญญาตรี นายอภิสิทธิ์ได้เข้ารับราชการเป็นอาจารย์ที่โรงเรียนนายร้อยพระจุลจอมเกล้าเขา ชะโงก จังหวัดนครนายก เป็นเวลาเกือบ 2 ปี ได้รับพระราชทานยศร้อยตรี ก่อนจะลาออกจากราชการกลับไปศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาโททางด้านเศรษฐศาสตร์ ที่มหาวิทยาลัยออกซ์ฟอร์ดอีกครั้ง เมื่อสำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาโทแล้ว ได้กลับมาเป็นอาจารย์ประจำ คณะเศรษฐศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์ หลังจากนั้นยังได้ศึกษาเพิ่มเติมจนสำเร็จปริญญาตรีนิติศาสตร์จากมหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหงอีกด้วย ต้นปี พ.ศ. 2549 นายอภิสิทธิ์ได้รับปริญญา นิติศาสตรดุษฎีบัณฑิตกิตติมศักดิ์จากมหาวิทยาลัยรามคำแหง จากการใช้ความรู้ความสามารถด้านกฎหมายปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในฐานะ สมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎรรัฐมนตรี และผู้นำฝ่ายค้านในสภาผู้แทนราษฎร สื่อมวลชนจึงเรียกนายอภิสิทธิ์ว่า "ดร.อภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ" ในบางครั้งนายอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ
