กิเลส คือ ความโลภ โกรธ หลง ซึ่งล้วนแต่เกิดในจิตใจของเราทั้งสิ้น เช่น โลภกับสิ่งที่ตนมีแล้วอยากมีอีก โกรธที่มีคนมาแย่งของรักตน หลงงมงายกับสิ่งที่อยากได้มาเป็นของตน เป็นต้น ยอมทำทุกสิ่งที่ล้วนแต่เป็นบ่อก่อเกิดบาปและเวรกรรมทั้งนั้น ไม่เกรงกลัวต่อสิ่งใด ในที่นี้ขอพูดถึงศาสนาพุทธ ศาสนาพุทธสอนให้คนเกรงกลัวและละอายต่อบาป ปลายวางกับสิ่งที่เป็นกิเลสในจิตใจ ปลงกับสิ่งที่เป็นของเราไปตลอดไม่ได้ ทำจิตใจให้สงบเมื่อใจเราสงบกายเราก็จะสงบไปด้วย เมื่อสงบนิ่งได้เราก็จะเข้มแข็งไม่ยอมให้กิเลสมาเกาะกินในจิตใจของเรา เพราะฉะนั้น ชีวิตนี้เกิดมาอย่า อยู่ อย่าง อยาก อย่าอยากได้สิ่งนั้นสิ่งนี้ อย่าอยากในสิ่งที่ไม่ใช่ของตน เป็นใดที่จะใช่ของเรา ตอนนี้เราอาจไม่ได้พบเจอแต่ถ้าใช่จริงก็ได้ได้เจอกัน แต่ถ้าสิ่งใดไม่ใช่ของของเรา เราก็ควรปล่อยวาง อย่ารั้งหรืออยากให้สิ่งนั้นเป็นของตน จงคิดพิจารณาทุกสิ่งก่อนที่จะตัดสินใจทำอะไรลงไป โกรธคือโง่ โมโหคือบ้า สำนวนนี้ให้ข้อคิดได้ดีสำหรับคนที่ใจร้อน วู่วาม ไม่คิดก่อนทำ สติสัมปชัญญะ คนเราควรมีสตินึกคิดไตร่ตรองอยู่เสมอเพื่อไม่ให่เกิดบาปติดตัวเมื่อกนะทำกสรใดโดยไม่คิด
ร่างกายและจิตใจของคนเราเชื่อมต่อกัน เมื่อร่างกายเราย่ำแย่ก็อาจจะมาจากสภาพของจิตใจที่ย่ำแย่เช่นกัน ซึ่งจิตใจของเราที่จะย่ำแย่ได้นั้นก็มักมาจากกิเลสตัณหาที่เราคิดแต่งปรุงขึ้นเองในจิตใจ ทุกศาสนาสอนให้เรามีจิตใจสงบสุขเพื่อให้ร่างกายก็เป็นสุขไปด้วย หากยึดหลักตามหลักของศาสนาต่างๆแล้ว จิตใจของเราก็จะเข้มแข็ง ซึ่งแสดงว่าร่างกายของเราก็จะเข้มแข็งไปด้วย

ดังนั้นพระพุทธศานา บาปจึงเกิดที่ตัวคนทำเอง คือ เกิดที่ใจของคนทำใครไปทำชั่ว บาปก็กัดกร่อนใจของคนนั้นให้เสียคุณภาพ เศร้าหมองขุ่นมัวไป ทำให้เกิดความทุกข์ทรมานไปไม่เกี่ยวกับคนอื่น
