การวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาการตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าผู้สูงอายุของวัยรุ่นไทยพุทธและไทยมุสลิม และปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าผู้สูงอายุของวัยรุ่นไทยพุทธและไทยมุสลิม เป็นการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ (Quantitative Research) โดยใช้ข้อมูลการสำรวจสภาวะทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรม พ.ศ.2554 เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยสำนักงานสถิติแห่งชาติ กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือผู้ที่มีอายุ 13-24 ปี ที่ตอบคำถามเกี่ยวกับการตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าผู้สูงอายุด้วยตนเอง จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 2,041 คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงพรรณาและใช้สถิติ Chi-square และMultiple Regression ในการทดสอบ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าผู้สูงอายุของวัยรุ่นไทยกับศาสนาที่นับถือมีความสัมพันธ์กันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ โดยพบว่าปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าผู้สูงอายุของวัยรุ่นไทยพุทธ ได้แก่ อายุ การมีเวลาให้แก่กันในครอบครัว การอยู่ร่วมครัวเรือนเดียวกันกับบิดาและ/หรือมารดา อาศัยอยู่ในภาคเหนือ การเห็นว่าหลักคำสอนทางศาสนาเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นในการดำเนินชีวิต ระดับการปฏิบัติตามคำสอนทางศาสนา และการสวดมนต์ ในส่วนของปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตระหนักและเห็นคุณค่าผู้สูงอายุของวัยรุ่นไทยมุสลิม ได้แก่ อายุ การเห็นว่าหลักคำสอนทางศาสนาเป็นสิ่งจำเป็นในการดำเนินชีวิต การใช้หลักคำสอนทางศาสนาเป็นแนวทางในการแก้ปัญหาชีวิต/การงาน การบริจาคช่วยผู้เดือดร้อน การถือศีลอด และการบริจาคซะกาต
