วันดินโลก (อังกฤษ: World Soil Day)

วันดินโลก (อังกฤษ: World Soil Day) ตรงกับวันที่ 5 ธันวาคมของทุกปี จากการประชุมขององค์การอาหารและการเกษตรแห่งสหประชาชาติ (FAO) ครั้งที่ 144 ระหว่างวันที่ 11-15 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2555 ณ สำนักงานใหญ่องค์การเกษตรและอาหารแห่งสหประชาชาติ กรุงโรม ประเทศอิตาลี ที่ประชุมได้มีมติสนับสนุนและร่วมกันผลักดันให้มีการจัดตั้ง "วันดินโลก" (World Soil Day) ตรงกับวันที่ 5 ธันวาคมของทุกปี ซึ่งตรงกับวันคล้ายวันพระราชสมภพของพระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช[1]

สืบเนื่องมาจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงปฏิบัติพระราชกรณียกิจเกี่ยวกับการพัฒนาที่ดินมาอย่างต่อเนื่องและยาวนาน ปรากฏผลสำเร็จเป็นที่ประจักษ์อย่างกว้างขวางทั้งในประเทศและนานาชาติ โดยศาสตราจารย์เกียรติคุณ ดร. สตีเฟน นอร์ตคลิฟฟ์ (Emeritus Professor Dr. Stephen Nortcliff) กรรมการบริหารสหภาพวิทยาศาสตร์ทางดินนานาชาติ เข้าเฝ้าทูลละอองธุลีพระบาท ทูลเกล้าทูลกระหม่อมถวายรางวัลนักวิทยาศาสตร์ดินเพื่อมนุษยธรรม (The Humanitarian Soil Scientist) เมื่อวันที่ 16 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2556 และขอพระบรมราชานุญาตให้วันที่ 5 ธันวาคมของทุกปีเป็น "วันดินโลก"[2] เพื่อให้วันดังกล่าวเป็นที่รู้จักแพร่หลายในระดับนานาชาติเกิดความต่อเนื่องและจริงจังในการรณรงค์ด้านทรัพยากรดินในทุกระดับ พร้อมทั้งสนับสนุนและส่งเสริมให้องค์การสหประชาชาติ จัดกิจกรรมเป็นการเฉพาะต่างๆ อาทิ การประกาศให้ พ.ศ. 2558 (ค.ศ. 2015) เป็น "ปีดินสากล" ตามที่องค์การอาหารและการเกษตรแห่งสหประชาชาติ (FAO) สหภาพวิทยาศาสตร์ทางดินนานาชาติ และสำนักงานที่ปรึกษาการเกษตรต่างประเทศ ประจำกรุงโรม นำเสนอประเด็นดังกล่าวเกี่ยวกับบทบาทและความสำคัญของทรัพยากรดินที่มีต่อความมั่นคงทางอาหารของโลก[3] โดยสืบเนื่องจากประเทศไทยเป็นผู้ผลักดันข้อเสนอปีดินสากลต่อที่ประชุมสมัชชาใหญ่แห่งสหประชาติ เพื่อให้วันที่ 5 ธ.ค. ของทุกปี เป็นวันดินโลก กระทั่งมีการรับรองข้อเสนอดังกล่าว[4]
