The rat population in a rice-based agro-ecosystem was monitored with four trap–barrier system plus trap
crop (TBS+TC) set-ups, each measuring approximately 7 m × 20 m, during the 2002 dry-season rice crop in Maragol,
Muñoz Science City, Philippines. The highest number of rats caught coincided with the period of field operations
(preparation and planting of the surrounding rice crops)
