Silver nanoparticles have received intense attention due to their wide range application in various fields such as medicine, cosmetic and antimicrobial agents, especially antibacterial agent. In recent years, a biological method using plant extracts as reducing agents for the preparation of metallic nanoparticles have been reported. The biological method offers many advantages for the synthesis such as environmental benign, cost-effective process and easily scaled up for large synthesis. As a result, the interest in this research will be studied on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles from the reaction between Jatropha curcas leaf extract and 1.00 mM silver nitrate aqueous solution in varied rations which were 0.10 : 10.00, 0.50 : 10.00 และ 1.00 : 10.00 v/v. The mixtures were kept at ambient temperature, 40 and 80 ˚C for 30 minutes - 72 hours. The formation of silver nanoparticles was followed by using UV-Visible spectrometry which exhibited the absorption spectrum in a range of 410-460 nm. Infrared spectrum of the synthesized silver nanoparticles revealed the presence of organic residues, suggested the reduing and capping roles of the organic species in Jatropha curcas leaf extract.
