การศึกษาเรื่อง ”การจัดการขยะมูลฝอยแบบมีส่วนร่วมของประชาชน : กรณีศึกษาเทศบาลตำบลท่าขอนยาง อำเภอกันทรวิชัย จังหวัดมหาสารคาม ” มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาระดับการมีส่วนร่วมของประชาชนในเทศบาลตำบลท่าขอนยาง อำเภอกันทรวิชัยจังหวัดมหาสารคามและเพื่อใช้เป็นข้อเสนอแนะสำหรับเสนอผู้บริหารเทศบาลตำบลท่าขอนยาง ในการแก้ไขการจัดการขยะมูลฝอยของประชาชน โดยกลุ่มประชากรเพื่อใช้ในการศึกษาวิจัยในครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ ประชาชนในเทศบาลตำบลท่าขอนยาง อำเภอกันทรวิชัย จังหวัดมหาสารคาม จำนวน100 คน ระยะเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ตั้งแต่ภาคเรียนที่1 ปีพุทธศักราช 2558 ตั้งแต่ เดือนสิงหาคม – เดือนธันวาคม โดยใช้เครื่องมือเป็นแบบสอบถามในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลมาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย
ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ประชาชนส่วนใหญ่มีระดับความคิดเห็นต่อการจัดการขยะมูลฝอยอยู่ในระดับที่ดี คือ ระดับที่มาก และในการมีส่วนร่วมของประชาชนในการจัดการขยะมูลฝอยจะอยู่ในระดับที่ปานกลาง เมื่อพิจารณาเป็นรายด้าน พบว่า ประชาชนมีส่วนร่วมในการกำจัดขยะมูลฝอยด้านการมีส่วนร่วมในการรับประโยชน์สูงที่สุด รองลงมาคือ ด้านมีการมีส่วนร่วมในการประเมินเป็นด้านที่ต่ำที่สุด
เมื่อเปรียบเทียบการมีส่วนร่วมกับเพศ อายุ ระดับการศึกษา อาชีพ รายได้ และการรับรู้ข่าวสารที่แตกต่างกัน พบว่า การมีส่วนร่วมของประชาชนในการจัดการขยะมูลฝอย ไม่แตกต่างกัน คือ มีระดับการมีส่วนร่วมเป็นปานกลาง
