Lampang province สร้างเมื่อ พ.ศ.1223 จากหนังสือพงศาวดารYonokกล่าวว่า “ Supromrusi ” สร้างเมืองเพื่อให้ เจ้า Anantayos โอรสพระนาง Jamtewee ครองคู่กับเมืองHaripunchai (Lamphun) ให้ชื่อเมืองว่า “ Nakorn kelang ” ต่อมาเปลี่ยนเป็น “ Nakorn Ampang ” และเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น “ Nakorn lampang ” ในภายหลัง
