ในการเรียนวิชาภาษาอังกฤษ การจดจำคำศัพท์นั้นเป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญมากอย่างหนึ่งที่จะทำให้นักเรียนเรียนรู้ได้ดี จากการสังเกตและได้มีประสบการณ์สอน นักเรียนส่วนใหญ่ไม่ประสบสำเร็จในการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษเนื่องจากนักเรียนจำคำศัพท์ไม่ได้ เมื่อให้นักเรียนท่องคำศัพท์ก็จะจำได้เฉพาะเวลาท่อง หลังจากนั้นก็ลืม ในปัจจุบันการท่องคำศัพท์เพียงอย่างเดียวไม่สามารถส่งผลให้นักเรียนจดจำคำศัพท์ได้ดีเนื่องจากความจำกัดของเวลาและปริมาณของคำศัพท์ที่มากเกินไป ดังนั้นผู้วิจัยจึงได้ศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อการจำคำศัพท์ เพื่อให้นักเรียนมีแนวทางและนำไปใช้ในการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษให้ดียิ่งขึ้น
