บทคัดย่อ
งานวิจัยเรื่องความเป็นมาและความเชื่อชุมชนบ้านน้ำพุ อำเภอโพนนาแก้ว จังหวัดสกลนคร มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1)เพื่อศึกษาประวัติความเป็นมาของหมู่บ้านน้ำพุ 2)เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อที่เกี่ยวข้องกับแหล่งน้ำในชุมชนบ้านน้ำพุ โดยใช้เครื่องมือในการศึกษาได้แก่ 1)แบบสัมภาษณ์ 2)แบบสังเกต กลุ่มเป้าหมายคือ 1)กลุ่มผู้นำชุมชนบ้านน้ำพุ 2)กลุ่มชาวบ้านชุมชนบ้านน้ำพุ
ผลวิจัยพบว่า บ้านน้ำพุ เป็นหมู่บ้านหนึ่งที่อยู่ติดกับริมฝั่งหนองหาร เหมือนกับหมู่บ้านอื่นๆ ที่อยู่รอบๆหนองหารอาชีพหลักก็ท้านาปีและนาปังแต่ทว่าหมู่บ้านน้ำพุจะมีประวัติความเป็นมาของตำนานอุรังคธาตุ ประวัติของเมืองหนอหาร เมืองสกลทวาปี จะมีชื่อบ้านทรงน้ำพุ (ปัจจุบันคือบ้านน้ำพุ) ติดอยู่ด้วย จึงเกิดความเชื่อมาตั้งแต่อดีตที่สำคัญกับแหล่งน้ำ คือ ชาวบ้านเชื่อว่าน้ำพุที่เกิดขึ้นในหมู่บ้านเป็นน้ำพุศักดิ์สิทธิ์ ชาวบ้านจึงมีความเชื่อต่อๆกันมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
