ใบรูปไข่หรือกลมสีเขียวเป็นมัน ออกดอกเดี่ยวและเป็นช่อ บานตลอดทั้งปี ดอกสีขาวลักษณะเป็นแฉกคล้ายดาว มักบานในเวลากลางคืนและบานได้เพียงชั่วครู่ในตอนกลางวัน มีกลิ่นหอมแรงคล้ายดอกมะลิ สามารถนำมาผลิตเป็นน้ำมันหอมระเหย
