ประวัติข้าวหอมมะลิอินทรีย์สุรินทร์

สุรินทร์เป็นดินแดนที่มีการปลูกข้าวหอมมะลิที่ดีที่สุดในประเทศและของโลก มีพื้นที่ปลูกข้าวกว่า 3 ล้านไร่ โดยเฉพาะที่สำคัญข้าวหอมมะลิอินทรีย์สุรินทร์เป็นข้าวที่มีคุณภาพเป็นที่ยอมรับ จังหวัดได้ประกาศนโยบายเป็นเมืองเกษตรอินทรีย์ปลอดสารเคมีและสารพิษ มาตั้งแต่ปี 2542 และคณะรัฐมนตรีมีมติเมื่อ 12 พ.ย. 2544 ให้จังหวัดสุรินทร์เป็นจังหวัดนำร่องในเรื่องการเกษตรอินทรีย์ของประเทศไทยและจังหวัดกำลังพัฒนาเกษตรอินทรีย์ไปสู่มาตรฐานสากล เพื่อเพิ่มผลผลิตและปริมาณการส่งออกต่างประเทศให้มากยิ่งขึ้น โดยเมื่อวันที่ 12 สิงหาคม 2547 จังหวัดสุรินทร์ ได้ประกาศใช้มาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์สุรินทร์ (มก.สร.) เป็นจังหวัดแรกของประเทศไทย ในปี 2549 ปัจจุบันจังหวัดได้พัฒนาเกษตรอินทรีย์ไปสู่มาตรฐานสากล เพื่อเพิ่มผลผลิตและปริมาณการส่งออกโดยสมัครขอรับรองมาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์ ทั้ง 3 มาตรฐาน คือ มาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์ สำนักงานมาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์ (มกท.), มาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์ Organic Thailand (มก.อช.) ของกรมวิชาการเกษตร กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์และมาตรฐานเกษตรอินทรีย์สุรินทร์ (มก.สร.) นอกจากนี้ แหล่งปลูกข้าวในจังหวัด โดยเฉพาะแหล่งปลูกข้าวหอมมะลิอินทรีย์ได้พัฒนาเป็นแหล่งการเรียนรู้เศรษฐกิจพอเพียง และแหล่งท่องเที่ยวเชิงเกษตร มีโฮมสเตย์ (Home Stay) ไว้ต้อนรับนักท่องเที่ยวที่สนใจอีกด้วย


จากชื่อเสียงของข้าวหอมมะลิจังหวัดสุรินทร์ โรงสีโครงการส่วนพระองค์สวนจิตรดา ได้ลองนำข้าวหอมมะลิสุรินทร์ไปทำการทดลองปรากฏว่ามีคุณภาพที่สุด จึงได้สั่งซื้อข้าวเปลือกหอมมะลิสุรินทร์ ต่อเนื่องมาตั้งแต่ปีพ.ศ.2553 จนถึงปัจจุบัน โดยในปีพ.ศ.2555 ได้มีการสั่งซื้อจำนวน 2,000 ตันๆ ละ 18,000 บาท มูลค่ารวม 36 ล้านบาท เพื่อนำไปแปรรูปไว้ใช้ในโครงการส่วนพระองค์ และอีกส่วนหนึ่งจะนำไปจำหน่ายในโครงการส่วนพระองค์ โดยได้มีพิธีลงนามทำสัญญาซื้อขายข้าวหอมมะลิเมื่อวันที่ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ.2555


และจังหวัดสุรินทร์ได้มีการจัดงานวันงานวันข้าวหอมมะลิไทย ขึ้นเพื่อเป็นการส่งเสริมการรักษาเอกลักษณ์ และเพิ่มมูลค่าผลผลิตของข้าวหอมมะลิสุรินทร์ ตลอดจนเพื่อเป็นการสนองตอบนโยบายผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดสุรินทร์ นายเกษมศักดิ์ แสนโภชน์ ที่ประกาศ เมื่อวันที่ 5 ธันวาคม พ.ศ.2542 ในการที่จะทำให้จังหวัดสุรินทร์ เป็นเมืองเกษตรอินทรีย์ปลอดสารเคมีและสารพิษ ภายในปี พ.ศ.2549 จังหวัดสุรินทร์ และองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดสุรินทร์ จึงได้ริเริ่มจัดงานวันข้าวหอมมะลิไทยขึ้นครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 12-18 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ.2543 ณ บริเวณหน้าศาลากลางจังหวัดสุรินทร์ ผลการจัดงาน ครั้งแรกสามารถเผยแพร่ชื่อเสียงและเอกลักษณ์ข้าวหอมมะลิสุรินทร์ได้เป็นที่ปรากฏ (งานวันข้าวหอมมะลิไทย. 2557 : มิถุนายน 15) และได้มีการจัดงานติดต่อกันมาจนถึงครั้งที่ 7 ในชื่องานวันข้าวหอมมะลิอินทรีย์และมหกรรมผ้าไหมสุรินทร์ ครั้งที่ 7 เพื่อเป็นการประชาสัมพันธ์ ส่งเสริมและเพิ่มมูลค่าผลผลิตข้าวหอมมะลิอินทรีย์สุรินทร์และผ้าไหมสุรินทร์ให้เป็นที่ยอมรับอย่างแพร่หลาย เพื่อสร้างรายได้ สร้างอาชีพให้กับประชาชน ส่งเสริมเกษตรกรในจังหวัดสุรินทร์ โดยมีกิจกรรมต่างๆ เช่น การแสดงวัฒนธรรม ทั้งดนตรี นาฏศิลป์ พื้นเมืองของจังหวัดสุรินทร์ การเดินแบบชุดแต่งกายผ้าไหมที่ทำจากผ้าไหมของจังหวัดสุรินทร์ ซึ่งจังหวัดสุรินทร์มีศักยภาพและความได้เปรียบ ทั้งทางด้านพื้นฐานการผลิตการเกษตรที่หลากหลาย ข้าวหอมมะลิเป็นพืชหลัก และเป็นสินค้าส่งออกของจังหวัดสุรินทร์ที่สำคัญ เพราะความ มีเอกลักษณ์อันโดดเด่น คือ “หอม ยาว ขาว นุ่ม” สำหรับผ้าไหมไทยเป็นศิลปหัตถกรรมพื้นบ้านของไทยอย่างหนึ่ง ซึ่งจังหวัดสุรินทร์เป็นจังหวัดเป็นจังหวัดที่ผลิตผ้าไหมพื้นเมืองที่มีลวดลาย เอกลักษณ์โดดเด่น สวยงาม เป็นที่ยอมรับแก่นานาอารยะประเทศ โดยผู้ทอใช้วิธีการทอ ทุกขั้นตอนด้วยแรงงานและฝีมือของคนที่มีอาชีพทอผ้าไหม ซึ่งเป็นผลงานมาจากการใช้ความรู้ ความสามารถและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นของบรรพบุรุษ จึงควรที่จะอนุรักษ์และสืบทอดภูมิปัญญาเหล่านี้ไว้ให้ลูกหลาน
