สถูปสวะยัมภูนาถ (Swayambhunath) หรื

สถูปสวะยัมภูนาถ (Swayambhunath) หรือวัดลิง เป็นเจดีย์ของชาวพุทธ (Buddhist Chaityas) ที่ยิ่งใหญ่แห่งหนึ่งของโลก กล่าวกันว่าน่าจะมีอายุถึง 2,000 ปี เลยทีเดียว สร้างขึ้นในรัชสมัยของพระเจ้ามานะเทวะ ในปี พ.ศ.963 สิ่งที่น่าสนใจภายในวัดคือ ส่วนตรงฐานของสถูปซึ่งมีดวงตาเห็นธรรม หรือ Wisdom Eyes ของพระพุทธเจ้าอยู่โดยรอบทั้ง 4 ด้าน

สถูปสวะยัมภูนาถตั้งอยู่บนยอดเขาห่างจากกรุงกาฐมาณฑุไปทางทิศตะวันตก 3 กิโลเมตร ตัวสถูปตั้งอยู่บนเนินเขาเล็กๆประมาณ 77 เมตร เหนือระดับน้ำทะเลของหุบเขากาฐมาณฑุ จึงทำให้เห็นทิวทัศน์เหนือหุบเขาที่แสนงดงาม สถูปแห่งนี้เป็นสถูปที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดของเนปาล อีก ทั้งยังเป็นสถานที่ที่มีการผสมผสานระหว่างศาสนาพุทธกับฮินดู โดยองค์การยูเนสโกได้ทำการขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นมรดกโลกในปี พ.ศ. 2522
