ทั้งนี้ นายกรัฐมนตรีได้กล่าวเปิดการประชุมว่า การประชุมวันนี้ ถือได้ว่าเป็นงานมหามงคลที่ต้องการสื่อสารให้พี่น้องประชาชนได้รับทราบว่า พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงมีพระมหากรุณาธิคุณอันใหญ่หลวงในการทำนุบำรุงประชาชนให้มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น ดังนั้น หน่วยงานราชการที่เกี่ยวข้องควรให้ความร่วมมือกันในการสร้างความเข้าใจกับพี่น้องประชาชนเกี่ยวกับพระราชกรณียกิจต่าง ๆ ที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวทรงปฏิบัติเพื่อพสกนิกรชาวไทยของพระองค์มาตลอดพระชนม์ชีพ เพื่อให้ประเทศไทยเดินไปข้างหน้าได้อย่างยั่งยืน

ในโอกาสนี้ ที่ประชุมได้รับทราบ การจัดงานพระราชพิธี พิธี และกิจกรรมสำคัญในช่วงวันเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ดังนี้ พระราชพิธีเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษาพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ในวันที่ 5-6 และ 8 ธันวาคม 2557 โดยสำนักพระราชวังดำเนินการ การจัดงานมหามงคลเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา “5 ธันวามหาราช” ระหว่างวันที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน 2557 ถึงวันที่ 6 ธันวาคม 2557 ณ บริเวณท้องสนามหลวง โดยมูลนิธิ 5 ธันวามหาราชดำเนินการ การจัดพิธีถวายสัตย์ปฏิญาณเพื่อเป็นข้าราชการที่ดีและพลังของแผ่นดิน ในวันพุธที่

นอกจากนี้ ที่ประชุมได้พิจารณาและเห็นชอบการจัดกิจกรรมเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว โดยใช้ชื่อในการจัดงานเฉลิมพระเกียรติ ว่า “รักพ่อ” ระหว่างวันที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน 2557 ถึงวันที่ 6 ธันวาคม 2557 ณ บริเวณท้องสนามหลวงและบริเวณถนนราชดำเนินกลาง ประกอบด้วยการจัดกิจกรรมเผยแพร่พระราชกรณียกิจ พระอัจฉริยภาพ พระเกียรติคุณ การจัดแสดงโครงการตามแนวพระราชดำริและตามหลักปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง รวมทั้งจัดกิจกรรมทางวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น จัดการจำหน่ายผลิตภัณฑ์ของดี 77 จังหวัด และกิจกรรมอื่น ๆ ซึ่งได้รับความร่วมมือสนับสนุนการดำเนินงานจากหน่วยงานต่าง ๆ ร่วมกับมูลนิธิ 5 ธันวามหาราช โดยจะมีพิธีเปิดงานและพิธีจุดเทียนถวายพระพรชัยมงคล ในวันศุกร์ที่ 5 ธันวาคม 2557 เวลา 19.19 น. ณ บริเวณท้องสนามหลวง ซึ่งนายกรัฐมนตรีพร้อมคู่สมรสจะเป็นประธานในพิธีดังกล่าว

รวมทั้ง การจัดทำภาพยนตร์แอนิเมชั่นเรื่อง “พระมหาชนก” โดยกรมประชาสัมพันธ์ดำเนินการเผยแพร่พระราชนิพนธ์ในรูปแบบภาพยนตร์แอนิเมชั่นเรื่อง “พระมหาชนก” ให้ประชาชนได้รับชม โดยมีกำหนดจัดฉาย ดังนี้ จัดฉายรอบปฐมทัศน์ ในวันศุกร์ที่ 28 พฤศจิกายน 2557 ณ โรงภาพยนตร์สยามภาวลัย ศูนย์การค้าสยามพารากอน กรุงเทพฯ และจะจัดฉายให้ประชาชนทั่วไปรับชมในโรงภาพยนตร์ที่อยู่ในส่วนภูมิภาคทั่วประเทศโดยไม่เสียค่าใช้จ่ายใด ๆ ทั้งสิ้น ในวันเสาร์ที่ 29 พฤศจิกายน และวันเสาร์ที่ 6 ธันวาคม 2557 วันละ 2 รอบ คือ รอบเที่ยงและรอบบ่าย ส่วนในกรุงเทพมหานครจะจัดฉาย ณ บริเวณท้องสนามหลวง ในวันศุกร์ที่ 5 ธันวาคม 2557
