วิทยาลัยนาฏศิลปนครศรีธรรมราช เป็นองค์กรทางด้านการศึกษาที่จัดการเรียนการสอนศิลปวัฒนธรรมด้านนาฏศิลป์ ดนตรี และคีตศิลป์ ได้ดำเนินการขอจัดตั้งขึ้นครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 27 พฤษภาคม 2519 รัฐมนตรีประจำสำนักนายยกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีหนังสือถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงศึกษาธิการเพื่อขอจัดตั้งวิทยาลัยนาฏศิลปนครศรีธรรมราชขึ้นจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช โดยให้ความเห็นว่าจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราชเป็นจังหวัดที่มีความสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์มาก จังหวัดหนึ่งในภาคใต้ โดยเฉพาะทางด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรม ด้านนาฏศิลป์ไทย และมีการติดต่อคมนาคมกับจังหวัดใกล้เคียงได้สะดวก อีกทั้งเป็นจังหวัดที่ยังคงรักษาศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทยได้จนถึงปัจจุบัน
