การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบของการเปลี่ยนแปลงราคาน้ำมันต่อดัชนีความเชื่อมั่นทางธุรกิจ ซึ่งราคาน้ำมันที่นำมาศึกษา คือ ราคาน้ำมันดีเซล ราคาน้ำมันเบนซิน และราคาน้ำมันเตา ซึ่งใช้ข้อมูลทุติยภูมิเป็นรายเดือน ตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคมปี 2553 ถึงเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ปี 2559 รวมเป็นระยะเวลา 74 เดือน โดยเลือกใช้วิธีการวิเคราะห์สมการถดถอยเชิงซ้อนหลายตัวแปร (Multiple Linear Regressions) ด้วยวิธีกำลังสองน้อยที่สุด (Ordinary Least Squares)
