ราคาของพลังงานโดยเฉพาะน้ำมันนั้นสูงมาก ซึ่งไม่เหมาะกับค่าครองชีพของคนไทย และมีอิทธิผลต่อหลายๆอย่าง เช่นสินค้าและบริการ ซึ่งมักจะแปรผกผันตามราคาน้ำมัน ดังนั้นรัฐบาลควรให้การสนับสนุนเกี่ยวกับพลังงานทดแทน เพราะจะช่วยลดต้นทุนทั้งสินค้าและบริการหลายๆอย่างในประเทศ ทำให้คนไทยสามารถดำรงชีวิตได้สะดวกสบายยิ่งขึ้น รายจ่ายน้อยลง เศรษฐกิจจะดีขึ้น

นอกจากนี้การใช้พลังงานทดแทนนั้นยังเป็นการใช้ทรัพยากรที่มีอยู่ให้คุ้มค่าและเกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด ไม่สิ้นเปลือง เช่น พลังงานไฟฟ้า แก็ส และแสงอาทิตย์ ซึ่งพลังงานเหล่านี้เป็นพลังงานสะอาด ไม่สร้างมลพิษในอากาศเหมือนกับน้ำมัน ที่การเผาไหม้เป็นอีกหนึ่งสาเหตุของการเกิด soil pollution เช่น ภาวะโลกร้อน และภาวะเรือนกระจก อีกทั้งในอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆก็มีการปล่อยมลพิษเหล่านี้ลงทะเล เกิดเป็น water pollution ในเวลาต่อมา
