ประเพณี “อุ้มพระดำน้ำ” เป็น

        ประเพณี “อุ้มพระดำน้ำ” เป็นประเพณีที่แปลกประหลาด มีเกิดขึ้นที่ จ.เพชรบูรณ์ เพียงแห่งเดียว นอกจากมีเรื่องราวเชิงอิทธิปาฏิหาริย์เข้าไปผูกพันแล้ว ยังนับเป็น “มรดกทางวัฒนธรรม” ที่แฝงไว้ด้วย “ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่น” ซึ่งบรรพบุรุษนำความเชื่อและศรัทธาจากชาวบ้านที่มีต่อพุทธศาสนาและองค์พระพุทธมหาธรรมราชา ให้เกิดการดูแลรักษาแม่น้ำลำคลอง



        จุดกำเนิดของพิธีกรรม “อุ้มพระดำน้ำ” ประเพณีที่มีตำนานความเชื่อเล่าขานสืบทอดมาว่าสมัยเมื่อราว 400 ปี ที่ผ่านมามีชาวเพชรบูรณ์กลุ่มหนึ่ง ได้ออกหาปลาในแม่น้ำป่าสัก และในวันนั้นได้เกิดเหตุการณ์ประหลาดคือ ตั้งแต่เช้ายันบ่ายไม่มีใครจับปลาได้สักตัวเดียว เลยพากันนั่งปรับทุกข์ริมตลิ่ง ที่บริเวณ “วังมะขามแฟบ” อยู่ทางตอนเหนือของตัวเมืองเพชร บูรณ์ จากนั้นสายน้ำที่ไหลเชี่ยวได้หยุดนิ่ง พร้อมกับมีพรายน้ำค่อย ๆ ผุดขึ้นมา และกลายเป็นวังน้ำวนขนาดใหญ่ รวมทั้งมีพระพุทธรูปองค์หนึ่งลอย ขึ้นมาเหนือน้ำ แสดงอาการดำผุดดำว่ายอย่างน่าอัศจรรย์ ชาวบ้านคนหนึ่งในกลุ่มจึงลงไปอัญเชิญขึ้นมาประดิษฐานที่วัดไตรภูมิ

        จากนั้นในปีต่อมาซึ่งตรงกับ “วันแรม 15 ค่ำ เดือน 10” พระพุทธรูปองค์นี้ได้หายไปอย่างไร้ร่องรอย และมีผู้พบอีกครั้งแสดง อาการดำผุดดำว่ายอยู่กลางแม่น้ำป่าสัก บริเวณเดียวกับที่พบครั้งแรก ชาวบ้านจึงร่วมกันอัญเชิญขึ้นมาประดิษฐาน ณ วัดไตรภูมิ เป็นครั้งที่ 2 พร้อมร่วมกันถวายนามว่า “พระพุทธมหาธรรมราชา” จากนั้นเป็นต้นมา เจ้าเมืองเพชรบูรณ์สมัยนั้น จะต้องอัญเชิญพระพุทธมหาธรรมราชา ไปประกอบพิธี “อุ้มพระดำน้ำ” เป็นประจำทุกปี ในวันแรม 15 ค่ำ เดือน 10 ณ บริเวณวังมะขามแฟบ สืบทอดมาจนกระทั่งปัจจุบัน แต่ยังมีข้อกำหนดอีกว่า ผู้ที่จะอุ้มพระดำน้ำได้นั้นจะต้องเป็นผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ คนเดียวเท่านั้น เพราะมีตำแหน่งเทียบเท่าเจ้าเมืองสมัย โบราณ จะให้ผู้อื่นกระทำแทนมิได้ ทั้งนี้หลังการประกอบพิธีเชื่อกันว่า องค์พระจะไม่หายไปดำน้ำเอง ฝนก็จะตกต้องตามฤดูกาล บ้านเมืองจะมีแต่ความสงบสุข สำหรับในปีนี้ นายต่อพงษ์อ่ำพันธุ์ เป็นผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัด จะเป็นผู้ทำพิธี ดังกล่าว

        จนมาถึงยุค “พระยาลิไท” กษัตริย์องค์ที่ 6 แห่งราชวงศ์พระร่วง ขณะนั้นเมืองเพชรบูรณ์ ซึ่งอยู่ในขอบขัณฑสีมาของกรุงสุโขทัย ได้ว่างกษัตริย์ปกครอง จึงดำริให้ “ออกญาศรีเพชรรัตนานัครภิบาล” (นามเดิมว่าเรือง) ไปครองเมือง พร้อมกับมอบ “พระพุทธมหาธรรมราชา” ให้ไปเป็นพระคู่บ้านคู่เมือง โดยได้กำชับว่าหากแวะที่ใดให้สร้างวัด และนำองค์พระประดิษฐาน ซึ่งการเดินทางสมัยนั้นต้องล่องไปตามลำน้ำต่าง ๆ ใช้ระยะเวลาแรมปีกว่าจะถึงเมืองเพชรบูรณ์ และเมื่อมาถึงมีดำริจะนำ “พระพุทธมหาธรรมราชา” ประดิษฐานวัดมหาธาตุ แต่เนื่องจากเกรงว่าจะเป็นการขัดต่อพระบรมราชโองการ จึงสร้างวัดขึ้นใหม่และตั้งชื่อว่า “วัดไตรภูมิ” เพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติแก่พระร่วงที่ได้พระราชนิพนธ์เรื่องไตรภูมิพระร่วง พร้อมกับนำองค์พระขึ้นประดิษฐาน

        นายวิศัลย์ โฆษิตานนท์ นายกเทศมนตรีเมืองเพชรบูรณ์ กล่าวว่า การจัดงาน “อุ้มพระดำน้ำ” ประจำปี 2550 เริ่มระหว่างวันที่ 10-14 ตุลาคม ภายในงานมีกิจกรรมมากมาย เช่น การแสดงแสงเสียงเกี่ยวกับตำนานความเป็นมาของประเพณี ในชื่อ “บารมีพุทธมหาธรรมราชา ธ สถิต ณ นคราเพชบุระ” โดยจัดการแสดงทุกคืนตั้งแต่วันที่ 11-14 ต.ค. เริ่มเวลา 20.29 น. ณ บริเวณเวทีกลางน้ำ หลังศาลากลางจังหวัด พร้อมกับมีการออกร้านจำหน่ายอาหารเรียกว่า “เทศกาลอาหารอร่อย” การจัดแสดงมหรสพต่าง ๆ การจัดแสดง นิทรรศการทางวิชาการ ขบวนแห่ทางบกและทางน้ำอันสวยงาม โดยวันที่ 11 ต.ค. เวลา 10.09 น. จะเป็นวันและเวลาประกอบพิธี “อุ้มพระดำน้ำ” ณ บริเวณท่าน้ำวัดโบสถ์ชนะมาร ที่น่าสนใจอีกหนึ่งกิจกรรมคือ การแข่งขันพายเรือทวนน้ำ แบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภท ได้แก่เรือยาวไม่เกิน 30 ฝีพาย และไม่เกิน 18 ฝีพาย จัดการแข่งขัน 2 วันคือ วันที่ 11-12 ต.ค. ณ ท่าน้ำวัดไตรภูมิ
