ในปัจจุบันภาษาอังกฤษถือเป็นภาษาที่สองที่สำคัญมากในประเทศไทย และยังเป็นภาษาสากลที่ใช้กันทั่วโลก กระทรวงศึกษาธิการได้เล็งเห็นความจำเป็นในการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษ จึงได้จัดให้มีการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษในสถานศึกษา โดยมีนโยบายพัฒนาคุณภาพการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ โดยมุ่งเน้นให้ผู้เรียนมีความสามารถนำประสบการณ์ในห้องเรียนไปใช้ได้ ดังนั้นจะต้องได้รับการฝึกทักษะทางภาษาทั้ง 4 ทักษะ คือ การฟัง การพูด การอ่านและการเขียน ซึ่งมุ่งให้ผู้เรียนมีทักษะในการฟัง พูด อ่านและเขียนที่จะช่วยให้ใช้ภาษาในการสื่อสารได้ตามความเหมาะสมกับวัยของผู้เรียน
ในการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาต่างประเทศ ผู้เรียนจำเป็นต้องฝึกฝนทักษะต่างๆ ทั้งการฟัง พูดอ่าน และเขียน เพื่อสามารถนาทักษะเหล่านี้ไปใช้ได้จริงในชีวิตประจาวันอย่างถูกต้อง มีประสิทธิภาพและเหมาะสมกับสถานการณ์ต่างๆ โดยเฉพาะทักษะการเขียนนับเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของการเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ ซึ่งการจะเขียนให้ดีนั้นไม่ใช่เรื่องง่ายสำหรับผู้เรียนที่เรียนอังกฤษเป็นภาษาต่างประเทศ หรือแม้แต่เจ้าของภาษาเองก็พบว่าการเขียนยาก และมักขาดทักษะในการเขียน อย่างไรก็ตามการฝึกทักษะการเขียนสามารถช่วยให้ผู้เรียนพัฒนาทักษะการเรียนรู้ภาษาด้านอื่นๆได้อีกด้วย
ดังนั้นจากการศึกษาข้างต้นจึงทำให้ผู้วิจัยมีความสนใจที่จะหาเทคนิควิธีการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อพัฒนาความสามารถในการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษสำหรับนักศึกษาโปรแกรมวิชาการประถมศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏกำแพงเพชรให้มีผลสัมฤทธิ์ดีขึ้น และการพัฒนาทักษะการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษให้สอดคล้องกับสังคมอันเป็นการพัฒนาผู้เรียนให้มีประสิทธิภาพและสามารถดำเนินชีวิตได้อย่างมีความสุข
