หลักการใช้ Present Perfect Continuous Tense Subject + has + been + V.-ing
1. ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่ เกิดขึ้นและดำเนินต่อเนื่องมาจนถึงอีกเหตุการณ์หนึ่งในอดีต โดยอาจใช้กับคำว่า since และ for เช่น
She had been shouting for help since she fell down the stairs.
(เธอได้ร้องขอความช่วยเหลือตั้งแต่เธอได้ตกบันไดลงมา)
2.พูดถึงการกระทำที่ เกิดขึ้นซ้ำไปซ้ำมาในอดีต และได้สิ้นสุดลงแล้ว เช่น
I had been smoking for 5 months.
(ฉันเคยสูบบุหรี่มาเป็นเวลาห้าเดือน)
Past Perfect Continuous Tense จะ เน้นถึงความต่อเนื่องของการกระทำ (Continuity of action) มากกว่า Past Perfect Tense
