1. เป็น clause ที่เพิ่มเข้ามา ไม่มีความจำเป็น แก่ใจความในประโยค เพียงแต่เพิ่มเข้ามาเพื่อให้ได้ความละเอียดมากขึ้น
2. ต้องมีเครื่องหมาย comma ข้างหน้าและข้างหลัง clause เสมอ
3. ต้องใช้ relative pronouns ซึ่งไม่ชี้เฉพาะเจาะจง เช่น who, whom ,whose หรือ which เท่านั้น จะใช้ that ไม่ได้เลย
