วัตถุประสงค์ของงานวิจัยนี้เป็นการ ศึกษาโครงสร้างจุลภาค และสมบัติทางกลของมีดกรีดยางพาราที่ใช้ในเขตพื้นที่ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ได้นำมีดจำนวน 5 ตัวอย่างได้ มีดตราไก่ ตรา3ห่วง ตราเพชร ตราเบตงและตราไชโย มาตรวจสอบโครงสร้างจุลภาค วัดความแข็งแบบ Rockwell scale D และตรวจสอบส่วนผสมด้วยเทคนิค Emission Spectroscopy จากการศึกษา พบว่ามีดกรีดยางพารา ทั้ง 5 ตัวอย่างทำมาจากเหล็กกล้าคาร์บอนสูงที่ผ่านการชุบแข็งมีโครงสร้างจุลภาคประกอบด้วยอนุภาค ซีเมนไต (Cementite) กระจายตัวบนเนื้อผิวของมาเทนไซต์ (Marten site)
โดยมีดตรา3ห่วงมีปริมาณคาร์บอนร้อยละ 1.186 โดยน้ำหนักมีค่าความแข็ง 48.83 (HRD) มีดตราไชโยมีปริมาณคาร์บอนร้อยละ 0.876 โดยน้ำหนักมีค่าความแข็ง 72.13 (HRD) มีดตราเพชรมีปริมาณคาร์บอนร้อยละ 0.986 โดยน้ำหนักมีค่าความแข็ง 32.83 (HRD)
จากการทดลองพบว่ามีดกรีดยางตรา3ห่วงมีปริมาณคาร์บอนสูงสุดแต่มีค่าความแข็งน้อยกว่ามีดกรีดยางตราไชโย จากผลการทดลองจะสามารถนำไปเป็น แนวทางในการปรับปรุงกรรมวิธีทางความร้อน เพื่อเพิ่มสมบัติทางกลแก่มีดกรีดยางพาราได้
