ในช่วงที่ความหนาวเย็นเชื้อเชิญนักท่องเที่ยว ให้ไต่ภูขึ้นดอยกัน ดอยอ่างขางก็ยังคงเป็นอันดับต้นๆ ที่หลายๆ คนนึกถึง เพื่อสัมผัสกับความเย็น แต่ก่อนขึ้นสู่ดอยอ่างขางนั้น ยังมีสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวแห่งใหม่ ที่สำคัญซึ่งเราไม่ควรพลาด หากได้เดินทางมาถึง อ.ฝางแล้ว

โดยสมเด็จพระเทพ รัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี เสด็จพระราชดำเนิน ทอดพระเนตร เมื่อวันที่ 19 มกราคม 2552
และเปิดให้ประชาชนเข้าชมตั้งแต่วันที่ 20 มกราคม 2552 เป็นต้นมา

ต้องบอกก่อนว่า ไม่ได้เป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่จัดแสดงความเป็นมาแบบเชยๆ แต่เขานำเสนอด้วยรูปแบบที่น่าสนใจ การันตีฝีมือโดยเกล้ามาศ ยิบอินซอย จากมูลนิธิเกี่ยวกับศิลปะ, รักลูกกรุ๊ป แบ่งเป็นห้องต่างๆ เป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ในรูปแบบพิพิธภัณฑ์ที่มีชีวิต (living site museum) ที่บูรณาการวิถีชีวิตชาวบ้านในบริเวณนั้นเอาไว้ด้วย

พิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งนี้ เกิดขึ้นเนื่องจากเกิดน้ำท่วม และดินโคลนถล่มในพื้นที่ ต.แม่งอน และต.แม่ข่า อ.ฝาง ทำให้โรงงานหลวงอาหารสำเร็จรูปที่ 1 (ฝาง) ได้รับความเสียหายเกือบทั้งหมด สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ จึงได้มีดำริให้ฟื้นฟูโรงงานหลวงอาหารสำเร็จรูปที่ 1 (ฝาง) จึงได้มีการดำเนินการก่อตั้งเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์โรงงานหลวงที่ 1 (ฝาง) ขึ้น
