ประชากร คือ บุคลากรสาธารณสุขที่ปฏิบัติงานในกลุ่มงานเวชปฏิบัติครอบครัวและชุมชนของโรงพยาบาลชุมชน จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด จำนวน 127 คน
กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ใช้ขนาดตัวอย่าง 100 คน ได้จากการใช้สูตรการคำนวณขนาดตัวอย่างเพื่อประมาณค่าเฉลี่ยของประชากร (อรุณ จิรวัฒน์กุล และคณะ, 2555)
การสุ่มตัวอย่าง สำหรับข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณ เป็นการสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบชั้น (Stratified Random Sampling) และการสุ่มอย่างง่าย ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพ ใช้วิธี Purposive Selection
เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณใช้แบบสอบถาม (Questionnaire) ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก (In-depth Interview) โดยสร้างจากเอกสารและการทบทวนงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องและตรวจสอบความตรงของเนื้อหาโดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญ 3 ท่าน และตรวจสอบความเชื่อมั่นของแบบสอบถาม (Reliability) ผู้วิจัยนำแบบสอบถามไปทดลองใช้ (Try out) กับกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีลักษณะคล้ายคลึงกันกับประชากรที่ศึกษาจำนวน 30 ราย ที่โรงพยาบาลชุมชน ในจังหวัดกาฬสินธุ์ โดยใช้วิธีการของ Cronbach’s หาค่า Alpha Coefficient ซึ่งแบบสอบถามประกอบด้วย แบบสอบถามเกี่ยวกับคุณลักษณะส่วนบุคคล, แรงจูงใจ, การสนับสนุนจากองค์การ, การมีส่วนร่วมในการปฏิบัติงานส่งเสริมสุขภาพของบุคลากรสาธารณสุข โรงพยาบาลชุมชน จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด และปัญหา อุปสรรคและข้อเสนอแนะของการมีส่วนร่วมในการปฏิบัติงานส่งเสริมสุขภาพของบุคลากรสาธารณสุข โรงพยาบาลชุมชน จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด รวมทั้งสิ้น 130 ข้อ ในส่วนข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก (In-depth Interview) มีประเด็นการสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก 4 ส่วน ประกอบด้วย แรงจูงใจ การสนับสนุนจากองค์การ การมีส่วนร่วมในการปฏิบัติงานส่งเสริมสุขภาพและปัญหาอุปสรรค ข้อเสนอแนะของการมีส่วนร่วมในการปฏิบัติงานส่งเสริมสุขภาพของบุคลากรสาธารณสุขโรงพยาบาลชุมชน จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด
การเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล เป็นการเก็บข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถามจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 100 คน และแบบสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึกจากกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 12 คน โดยจะเลือกบุคคลที่สามารถให้ข้อมูลเชิงลึกเกี่ยวกับ ปัจจัยด้านแรงจูงใจ การสนับสนุนจากองค์การ และการมีส่วนร่วมในการปฏิบัติงานส่งเสริมสุขภาพของบุคลากรสาธารณสุข โรงพยาบาลชุมชน จังหวัดร้อยเอ็ด ได้ดีที่สุด (Key informant)
