Anti-government protestor continues their rally at Democracy Monument, Chamai Maruchet Bridge, Makawan Rangsan Bridge; and protestors are no longer occupying the Government house.Today, the Students and People Network for Thailand's Reform rallied outside the head office of the Election Commission at noon demanding to postpone general election that has been scheduled for Feb 2, 2014. It is also reported that representatives of the People's Democratic Reform Committee on Today met with the Election Commission and submitted an open letter calling for a postponement for the election.
In a separate report, The government has announced via CAPO to request people to participate on general election as scheduled. Also a second reform forum is now underway at the Sukosol Hotel, to follow up on Sunday's forum, but reporters are not allowed to attend. Caretaker PM Yingluck Shinawatra has reaffirmed that she will not resign as the caretaker prime minister until the new government takes office.
As the situation is still not back to normal, from a safety & security perspective, all Siemens employees and business visitors are advised to avoid large crowds and protest / rally sites; be cautious on the movement / commute home or to work. At this point of time following is the route situation:
The following areas must be avoided due to crowd / protesters affecting the traffic
1. Ratchadamnoen Klang road : from Democracy monument to Phan fah intersection.
2. Phitsanulok road : from Nang Loeng intersection to Phanitchayakan Intersection, Chamai Maruchet Bridge area.
3. Ratchadamnoen Nok road : around Makawan Rangsan Bridge area.
