การจัดการด้านสุขภาพเน้นกระบวนการหลัก 4 ด้าน อันได้แก่ การจัดทำแผนด้านสุขภาพ การจัดการงบประมาณเพื่อใช้พัฒนาด้านสุขภาพ การจัดกิจกรรมด้านสุขภาพในหมู่บ้าน / ชุมชน และประการสุดท้ายคือ การประเมินผลการดำเนินงาน ซึ่งทั้งหมดนี้ต้องดำเนินการโดย อสม. และแกนนำ ฯ ในหมู่บ้าน / ชุมชน โดยเจ้าหน้าที่สาธารณสุข องค์กรปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นและองค์กรอื่น ๆร่วมกันขับเคลื่อนและกระตุ้นให้เกิดกระบวนการจัดการด้านสุขภาพขึ้นครบ 4 ด้าน และผ่านการประเมินจากเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด จึงจะเรียกว่าเป็น “ หมู่บ้านจัดการสุขภาพ ”
