มูลนิธิถันยรักษ์ ได้จัดตั้งศูนย์ถันยรักษ์ขึ้นที่โรงพยาบาลศิริราช เมื่อเดือนมีนาคม พ.ศ. 2538 เพื่อใช้เป็นสถานที่ตรวจวินิจฉัยเต้านม เป็นศูนย์อิสระที่ดำเนินงานโดยใช้เงินจากมูลนิธินี้ และได้รับความร่วมมือจากโรงพยาบาลศิริราชเรื่องสถานที่และแพทย์จากคณะต่างๆ คือ รังสีแพทย์ ศัลยแพทย์และพยาธิแพทย์ มูลนิธิฯ ได้นำเงินพระราชทานและเงินบริจาคไปจัดซื้อเครื่องเอกซเรย์เต้านม แมมโมแกรม (Mammogram) เครื่องอุลตราซาวด์ (Ultrasound) และเครื่องตรวจเจาะชิ้นเนื้อ (Stereotactic Core Biopsy) ที่ทันสมัยที่สุดในขณะนั้น และนำแพทย์และเจ้าหน้าที่เทคนิคผู้เชี่ยวชาญเรื่องตรวจวินิจฉัยมะเร็งเต้านมจากต่างประเทศมาฝึกสอนรังสีแพทย์และเจ้าหน้ารังสีเทคนิคของโรงพยาบาลศิริราชและโรงพยาบาลอื่นๆ ทั้งในกรุงเทพฯ และต่างจังหวัด
