ประวัติความเป็นมา

ด้วยความสามัคคี และจิตสำนึก อนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติของคนในชุมชน ทำให้ป่าชุมชนภูผีปอบ-ภูปักแป้น ได้รับการดูแลรักษาเป็นอย่างดี ชาวบ้านที่จะเข้าใช้ทรัพยากรจากป่าไม้ ต้องได้รับอนุมัติจากคนในชุมชนด้วยกันก่อน ป่าก็เริ่มคืนสภาพอันอุดมสมบูรณ์ดังเดิม ดังนั้นในปี พ.ศ.2543 กรมป่าไม้จึงได้มอบโล่ประกาศเกียรติคุณ "ป่าพื้นบ้าน อาหารชุมชนดีเด่น" ให้กับชาวบ้านที่นั่น
ต่อมา เมื่อกระแสการท่องเที่ยวเชิงอนุรักษ์โหมแรง คุณติณณะภพ สุพันธะ แกนนำชาวบ้านในการจัดตั้งป่าชุมชนภูผีปอบ จึงแปลงโฉมบ้านวังน้ำมอกให้เป็นหมู่บ้านโฮมสเตย์ โดยใช้ป่าชุมชนมาเป็นจุดขายเพื่อรองรับนักท่องเที่ยวเชิงอนุรักษ์ มีการรวมกลุ่มกันทำสินค้าหัตถกรรมพื้นบ้าน และร่วมกันสืบสาน ฟืนฟู วัฒนธรรม ประเพณีของท้องถิ่น ตามแนวคิดเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง รองรับการท่องเที่ยวที่ยั่งยืน
