เศรษฐกิจพอเพียง หมายถึง ความสามารถของชุมชนเมือง รัฐ ประเทศ หรือภูมิภาคหนึ่ง ๆในการผลิตสินค้าและบริการทุกชนิดเพื่อเลี้ยงสังคมนั้น ๆ ได้โดยไม่ต้องพึ่งพาปัจจัยต่างๆ ที่เราไม่ได้เป็นเจ้าของ- เศรษฐกิจพอเพียงในระดับบุคคลนั้น คือ ความสามารถในการดำรงชีวิตได้อย่างไม่เดือดร้อน มีความเป็นอยู่อย่างประมาณตน ตามฐานะ ตามอัตภาพ และที่สำคัญไม่หลงใหลไปตามกระแสของวัตถุนิยม มีอิสรภาพ เสรีภาพ ไม่พันธนาการอยู่กับสิ่งใด
