องค์กรเป็นศูนย์รวมกิจกรรมที่ประกอบกันขึ้นเป็นหน่วย ถ้าเป็นงานสาธารณะ เรียกว่า องค์กรบริหารส่วนราชการ ถ้าเป็นหน่วยงานเอกชน เรียกว่า องค์กรบริหารธุรกิจ
องค์กรโดยทั่วไป แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ลักษณะใหญ่ ๆ คือ
