1.1 สถานการณ์ความยากจนของประเทศไทย

ของประเทศไทย โดยความยากจนลดลงจากร้อยละ 13.2 ของประชากรทั้งประเทศ ในปี 2554 เหลือร้อยละ
12.6 ในปี 2555 (คนจน 8.4 ล้านคน) หากรวม “คนจน” กับ “คนเกือบจน” แล้วจะมีประมาณ 15.6 ล้านคน
หรือร้อยละ 23.5 ของประชากรทั้งประเทศซึ่งบ่งชี้ได้ว่าความยากจนยังคงเป็นปัญหาส้าคัญของประเทศไทย
ทั้งนี้ความยากจนที่ลดลงในปี 2555 ส่วนหนึ่งเป็นผลมาจากการสร้างโอกาสทางการศึกษาโดยเฉพาะแก่เด็ก
ฐานะยากจน รวมทั้งมาตรการลดค่าครองชีพและเพิ่มรายได้ให้กับประชาชน อันน้าไปสู่การพัฒนาศักยภาพใน
การประกอบอาชีพสร้างรายได้และยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตของประชาชน ซึ่งมีการด้าเนินการที่ส้าคัญ อาทิ
