กระบวนการภายในของเทคโนโลยีเสมือนจริง ประกอบด้วย 3 กระบวนการ ได้แก่

• การวิเคราะห์ภาพ (Image Analysis) เป็นขั้นตอนการค้นหา Marker จากภาพที่ได้จากกล้องแล้วสืบค้นจากฐานข้อมูล (Marker Database) ที่มีการเก็บข้อมูลขนาดและรูปแบบของ Marker เพื่อนำมาวิเคราะห์รูปแบบของ Marker การวิเคราะห์ภาพ สามารถแบ่งได้เป็น 2 ประเภท ได้แก่ การวิเคราะห์ภาพโดยอาศัย Marker เป็นหลักในการทำงาน (Marker based AR) และการวิเคราะห์ภาพโดยใช้ลักษณะต่างๆ ที่อยู่ใน ภาพมาวิเคราะห์ (Marker-less based AR)
