จันทบุรีเป็นแหล่งปลูกทุเรียนที่สำคัญของประเทศไทย จึงศึกษาข้อมูลสถานการณ์การผลิตทุเรียนในพื้นที่จังหวัดจันทบุรี โดยทำการเก็บข้อมูลจากกลุ่มเกษตรกรผู้ทำการผลิตทุเรียน จำนวน 100 ราย โดยใช้เครื่องมือการวิจัยเป็นแบบสอบถาม จากกลุ่มตัวอย่างผู้ทำการผลิตทุเรียนในจังหวัดจันทบุรี พบว่า ผู้ทำการผลิตทุเรียนในจังหวัดส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย มีอายุระหว่าง 41-50 ปี มีการ
ศึกษาระดับปวช.-ปริญญาตรี ประกอบอาชีพเกษตรกรเป็นหลัก เกษตรกรมีการผลิตทุเรียนตามฤดูกาล แรงงานที่ใช้ส่วนใหญ่เป็นแรงงานในครัวเรือน เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่เลือกใช้ปุ๋ยเคมีร่วมกับปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ และระบบน้ำแบบสปริงเกอร์ พันธุ์ที่นิยมปลูก คือ พันธุ์หมอนทอง ลักษณะดินที่ปลูกทุเรียนเป็นดินร่วนนทราย และมีพื้นที่ในการปลูกประมาณ 20-40 ไร่ ลักษณะการปลูกจะเป็นแบบขุดหลุมปลูก ไม่พบการรวมกลุ่มเพื่อการซื้อขายของผลผลิต ลักษณะสภาพสวนเป็นการปลูกแบบผสมผสาน ส่วนใหญ่เกษตรกรจะนำผลผลิตไปขายด้วยตนเอง
ปัญหาที่พบในการผลิตทุเรียนมากที่สุด คือ การเกิดโรคและความเสียหายของทุเรียน รองลงมา คือ ลักษณะการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ และการระบาดของแมลงศัตรูพืช ปัญหาที่พบน้อยที่สุด คือ การจัดการปุ๋ยในการเจริญเติบโต การใช้สารเคมี-ปุ๋ย และแหล่งค้นคว้าข้อมูล
