บิ๊กเสือ" หรือพลเอกพิจิตร กุลละวณิช

บิ๊กเสือ" หรือพลเอกพิจิตร กุลละวณิชย์ เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 6 กรกฎาคม 2475 เป็นบุตรคนโตในจำนวนพี่น้องทั้งหมด 7 คนของ จวน กุลละวณิชย์ มีบ้านเดิมอยู่แปดริ้ว ฉะเชิงเทรา บ้านเดียวกับอดีตประธานสภาที่ชื่อ ประสิทธิ์ กาญจนวัฒน์ ซึ่งปัจจุบันเป็นประธานธนาคารกรุงเทพ และเป็นเพื่อนรักของคุณพ่อพลเอกพิจิตรด้วย ได้รับโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ดำรงตำแหน่งองคมนตรีตั้งแต่วันที่ 13 กรกฎาคม 2536

พลเอกพิจิตรจบมัธยม 6 จากโรงเรียนกรุงเทพคริสเตียน เข้าเรียนเตรียมนายร้อยเมื่อปี 2490 และเข้าเรียนโรงเรียนนายร้อย จปร. เมื่อปี 2492 เป็นนักเรียนนายร้อย จปร.รุ่นที่ 2 ตามหลักสูตรใหม่ที่เรียกว่า หลักสูตรเวสต์ปอยต์

เป็นรุ่นน้องพลโทชวลิต ยงใจยุทธ หรือ "บิ๊กจิ๋ว" หนึ่งรุ่น

เผอิญขณะที่เรียนอยู่ปีที่ 2 นั้นมีผลการเรียนดีเด่นมาก ก็เลยถูกส่งตัวไปเรียนต่อที่โรงเรียนนายร้อยเวสต์ปอยต์ ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา พร้อมกับเพื่อนร่วมรุ่นอีกคนหนึ่งชื่อ วิจิตร สุขมาก (ปัจจุบันติดยศพลตรี)

สำเร็จการศึกษาจากโรงเรียนนายร้อยเวสต์ปอยต์ในปี 2501 จากนั้นก็ไปเรียนต่อที่โรงเรียนทหารราบสหรัฐฯ ฟอร์ดแบบนิ่ง รัฐจอร์เจียในหลักสูตรผู้บังคับหมวด, หลักสูตรจู่โจม RANGER และหลักสูตรโดดร่ม AIRBONE

ครั้งที่ยังดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยหัวหน้ายุทธการในเวียดนามนั้นผู้ที่ดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นหัวหน้ายุทธการก็คือ พลโทชวลิต ยงใจยุทธ
