ในประเทศยุโรป เรียกว่า "วันกรรมกรสากล" หรือ "วันเมย์เดย์" (May Day) ยกเว้นประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา และประเทศแคนาดา ที่ถือเอาวันจันทร์แรกของเดือนกันยายนเป็นวันแรงงาน
