บรูไนและไทยได้ทำข้อเสนอโครงการร่วมกันเพื่อส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมอาหารฮาลาลของแต่ละประเทศ บรูไนมองว่าไทยเป็นที่ขึ้นชื่อในเรื่องผลิตภัณฑ์ทางการเกษตรและอุตสาหกรรมฮาลาล ในขณะที่บรูไนวางแผนจะพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมฮาลาลและส่งเสิรมมาตรฐานฮาลาล

ทั้งนี้ ทางบรูไนจะนำเข้าข้าวหอมมะลิจากไทยมากขึ้น และกำลังพยายามเพิ่มผลผลิตข้าวพันธุ์พื้นเมือง “Laila” ของบรูไนเอง บรูไนต้องการเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับกระบวนการเทคโนโลยีการปลูกข้าวจากประเทศไทย
